چکیده

The dynamical cluster approximation ~DCA! is modified to include disorder. The DCA incorporates nonlocal corrections to local approximations such as the coherent potential approximation ~CPA! by mapping the lattice problem with disorder, and in the thermodynamic limit, to a self-consistently embedded finite-sized cluster problem. It satisfies all of the characteristics of a successful cluster approximation. It is causal, preserves the point-group and translational symmetry of the original lattice, recovers the CPA when the cluster size equals one, and becomes exact as Nc→` . We use the DCA to study the Anderson model with binary diagonal disorder. It restores sharp features and band tailing in the density-of-states, which reflect correlations in the local environment of each site. While the DCA does not describe the localization transition, it does describe precursor effects of localization.

Investigation of the nonlocal coherent-potential approximation

Recently the nonlocal coherent-potential approximation (NLCPA) has been introduced by Jarrell and Krishnamurthy for describing the electronic structure of substitutionally-disordered systems. The NLCPA provides systematic corrections to the widely used coherent-potential approximation (CPA) whilst preserving the full symmetry of the underlying lattice. Here an analytical and systematic numerica...

A Non-Crossing Approximation for the Study of Intersite Correlations

We develop a Non-Crossing Approximation (NCA) for the effective cluster problem of the recently developed Dynamical Cluster Approximation (DCA). The DCA technique includes short-ranged correlations by mapping the lattice problem onto a self-consistently embedded periodic cluster of size Nc. It is a fully causal and systematic approximation to the full lattice problem, with corrections O(1/Nc) i...

Coulomb corrections in quasi-elastic scattering based on the eikonal expansion for electron wave functions

An eikonal expansion is developed in order to provide systematic corrections to the eikonal approximation through order 1/k, where k is the wave number. The expansion is applied to wave functions for the Klein-Gordon equation and for the Dirac equation with a Coulomb potential. Convergence is rapid at energies above about 250 MeV. Analytical results for the eikonal wave functions are obtained f...

A Systems Thinking Approach to Inform Coherent Policy Action for NCD Prevention; Comment on “How Neoliberalism Is Shaping the Supply of Unhealthy Commodities and What This Means for NCD Prevention”

Lencucha and Thow tackle the enormous public health challenge of developing non-communicable disease (NCD) policy coherence within a world structured and ruled by neoliberalism. Their work compliments scholarship on other causal mechanisms, including the commercial determinants of health, that have contributed to creating the risk commodity environment and barriers to N...

Radar Signal Detection in K-distributed Clutter by Pade Approximation

In this paper, two suboptimum detectors are proposed for coherent radar signal detection in K-distributed clutter. Assuming certain values for several initial moments of clutter amplitude, the characteristic function of the clutter amplitude is approximated by a limited series. Using the Pade approximation, it is then converted to a rational fraction. Thus, the pdf of the clutter amplitude is o...
